JOHN JAMES HICKEY has worked as a director nationally and internationally.  He was born in the Bronx  and was always surrounded by creativity.  His mother was a painter and photographer and his father's family were musicians and recording artists.  Consequently, he had a true Renaissance upbringing learning how to paint, sculpt, play piano, write, direct, act, sing, and dance by the time he started college.  After seeing his first professional show on Broadway he knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life writing and directing.  Even though he grew up in NYC, he spent all of his summers in the beautiful Hudson Valley in Upstate, NY.  He continues to return there every summer to teach film, photography, and animation at Camp Scatico.  Based on his experiences at sleepaway camp, he wrote the book How Long To Visiting Day: Creative Role Playing for Training Camp Counselors.  Some of his favorite places to work have been the Royal National Theater, Williamstown Theater Festival, The Humor Hatchery, WPA Theater, The Yale Cabaret, the Al. Ringling Theater, SNL, and Camp MTV. For several years JJ also wrote, acted, and directed at two live weekly comedy shows in L.A. (No Shame Theater and Fries on the Side).  In addition to directing over 100 plays, musicals, and workshops, he has directed over 2 dozen short films.  He also shadowed the top 10 directors on some of the finest comedy shows on television.  FUNNY BONED is his first web series. In his spare time JJ enjoys painting portraits, reading, tap dancing and long walks on the beach.  JJ trained as a director at Columbia University’s School of the Arts and received his MFA in Theater Management from the Yale School of Drama.
